Peace has been lost

The family is back from Peru - and even though I missed them terribly I really miss it being just J and I!

We don't have the privacy we had before.. we don't have things the way we like it.. critism (that I'm sure was meant to be constructive) has already begun about the way we choose to do things.

An example of this is with my puppy. He has skin allergies and scratches till he bleeds and as a result has some patches of hair missing and can have scabs (sounds terrible I know!). We've taken him to the vet about this and their solution is to shoot him full of steriods and give him medication. That was a short term fix that only lasted temporarily and we don't want to have to give our puppy cocntinual steriod shots as it is so bad for him, effects his body and not to mention his little liver! We have been looking into natural alternatives to combat his skin allergies and for the most part they're working. They aren't a quick fix and they take time but it is making his body, not to mention his skin more healthy and is 100 times better for him. It may take a little longer than shooting him full of drugs but at least it doesn't harm his body and is a much more holistic approach.

The family is already making comments about how terrible we are for letting him suffer and that we should take him back to the vet to get shots. Isn't it our choice how we look after our puppy?! I'm certianly not heartless and we are doing a great deal to make him better.. but we are doing it the way we want to do it.

The family do have the best intentions but it can be a little hurtful to be attacked about the way we care for our dog.

How can you not love him?? Look at him!

New present for us

Yesterday J and I went and bought our final joint Christmas present to each other.

It had been coming for a long time.. as the one I had previously was just ancient (bought it about umm.. 5 years ago?) and was very cheap at the time.

We splurged and bought ourselves a new digital camera.

Now we wanted a good one and also want a good one for our trip to the States next month and we (by accident) ended up getting one of the best ones on the market!

Once we got home and played with it a little bit we were just so impressed! It was only once we were home and researched it a bit online that we realised it has absolutely rave reviews. It is was I call a 'real camera. Meaning it isn't one of those tiny little ones that would fit in your pocket. It's a pretty hefty thing and not small in the slightest but I quite like that actually. Quite 'old school' in a way while at the same time being ultra modern and the best you could get right now.

Below is a photo J took in the car on the way home just playing around to see the quality we could get from a moving car..

New job

Today is my first day in my new position in Southern Suburbs (Miranda specifically).

Very first day and there are no staff. I’m the most senior staff member here and am ‘in charge’. I don’t even have a desk yet and am itching to unpack my boxes of belongings (MUST be organised!).

I don’t know the demographics for this area yet however I’ve been thrown in the deep end and am managing the office (not as scary as it sounds really..)

I had a small talk with one of the line managers today.. as of next week I will be made permanent and I am so relieved! Finally I will have a permanent Senior position which makes things so much more comfortable. No more concerns that I will get a pay cut if I can’t act up anymore, have a secure position that will always be mine even if I took a year off work.. just a big relief!

Can’t say how this will go yet.. there is only a handful of staff but I’m being optimistic!
