Visas

J got his visa!

Little background info.. J and I met online over 5 years ago and began a relationship. He came here and visited me for a few months before going back to the US. J proposed, I said yes (of course!) and then we began work on applying for a Prospective Fiance visa.

What that means really is that if he was approved for the visa he would be able to come down here for up to 6 months as long as we got married within that time.

Obviously, we did get married! (Yay!)

As the Prospective Fiance visa was only temporary and for 6 months, once we were married we had to apply for a Spouse visa.

Technically that is also temporary but it is valid for 2 years. If after 2 years we are still together and everything is going good, he becomes a permanent resident!

Well.. we got the application together (the amount of paperwork we submitted was about 10cm in height, I kid you not!) and I took it in to the office personally on Friday.

Yesterday (which was Tuesday) we got a letter from them approving his visa.

They responded in under 2 working days! We were expecting to have to wait a few months..

Very exciting stuff!!! No worries about J staying in the country anymore!!

Harlequin

Just had to show off the gorgeous new addition to our family!

He's not ready to leave his mummy yet though, we get to pick him up in about 3 weeks (from Tamworth! Ugh what a drive..)

His name is Harlequin.. isn't he just beautiful?!

Shuffleshoes

The gorgeous view of the property we stayed on for our honeymoon.

Contract work is yucky

Sometimes I really hate that J is a temp (meaning on a contract, through an employment agency).

He gets paid weekly, after he sends in his time sheet for the week that is approved by his line manager. Because of J getting a promotion and having a new line manager there's big confusion as to who should be approving his time sheet.

It still hasn't been rectified so for the moment it has to be signed by hand and faxed in (usually it's just authorised and then emailed off to the relevant people).

For the second week in a row now he hasn't gotten paid! Last week he didn't get his pay for about 5 days after the time he should have. Once again, he didn't get paid when he was meant to.

We obviously depend on his pay.. that pay was to be for our car payment, which comes out on Tuesday.

They haven't paid us, and we don't have the money for that car payment till J gets paid!

I hate unreliable pay situations! At least with my pay it's a constant thing. I get paid once a fortnight, on a Wednesday night. It's always the same and I can keep track of what's coming and going!

Lets just hope they let us defer the car payment by a few days..

Blog Templates

I never thought it would be so difficult to customise a template here! I'm stuck with a blogspot template for the time being - could be worse!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Why my move to a new blog.. I had no purpose for posting in the old journal. If people were reading I never knew they were.

Here is a new start as I start a new part of my life.. being married now and all!

Married life.. well it's exactly the same as unmarried life. Only difference I've found is that it is a pain in the butt having to change my surname all over the place! J finds it very amusing when I'm asked my surname and I still stumble a little and think in my maiden name first!

We've been married a month now - we had a 3 day honeymoon, and I'm ready to go on another holiday! Just want to leave everything here behind and go away with J for a few weeks.

Very first Entry

My first post in my brand new blog!

Time for a change.. time to leave diaryland behind and have a new beginning here.

This is the first one and not very interesting, but I'll be making some big changes soon (I promise!)
